Anesu Mukombiwa she/her

[a shona name] meaning “God is with us”

She is an international student at Skidmore College from Harare, Zimbabwe. Her main artistic medium is writing—primarily lyrical/poetic non-fiction, however her passion for storytelling has inspired her to delve into other mediums to augment her writing and widen her scope i.e., videography, video editing and audio editing. Her latest project is a short film titled “Mufambe Mushe,” which explores grief through a Southern-African lens.

“Everything we do comes from the stories of ourselves we rehearse each day, the ones we use to return to ourselves and check every now and again that we are still who we sought out to be, or at the very least, who we think we are.”
